Assistantship Information
Assistantships may include a tuition waiver, health insurance, and monthly stipend. Contact your department for teaching and research assistantship opportunities. If you receive additional awards (scholarships, fellowships, etc.) in conjunction with your financial aid and assistantship position, you may need fill out a Revision Request form with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships Services to have your Cost of Attendance reviewed. This may allow you to receive additional aid if sections of your budget where underestimated. Non-resident students should note that the Financial Aid Office awards all graduate students initially with resident tuition rate. If you are a non-resident student receiving an assistantship and financial aid, please complete the GW-Graduate Tuition Fee Waiver Assumed form located on the Financial Aid Office website under Information Letters.

PERMS Acronyms offers a list of waiver options available to use when completing the PERMS Action. The Summer Session
processing memo is for all graduate assistantship appointments from May 16th through August 15th.

All But Dissertation Waiver Pilot Program (ABD)
The ABD pilot program allows faculty supported tuition relief for Ph.D. students appointed to extramurally funded research assistantships. If you have passed your prelims and completed your formal program of study course work apply for the ABD waiver program today.
English Proficiency Exam
All teaching assistants from a foreign country must pass a TOEFL exam, unless the student is from or has graduated from one of the following countries: Australia; Bahamas; Botswana; Guyana; England; Ireland; Jamaica; New Zealand; Nigeria; Scotland; Trinidad; Tobago; Canada. Graduate Partner and Spouse Services (PASS) Program
WSU Health & Wellness Services (HWS) will provide health care services to
eligible spouses or partners of graduate students who enroll in the PASS
program. Details are available through Health and Wellness Services.
Responsible Conduct of Research
Access the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training website for information on state regulations, guidelines, and sponsor requirements.
Please log in to MyResearch to begin your Responsible Conduct of Research training. The RCR training is a requirement for all assistantships at WSU.
Short Term Parental Leave for Graduate Assistants
Official Graduate Leave of Absence is granted for students in active status who must be away from their studies for one or more semesters. To apply for leave please complete the Graduate Leave form.
