Regents Professor of economics, Ron Mittelhammer , is an award- winning teacher and researcher with extensive breadth and depth of knowledge in theoretical and applied econometrics. Students
who collaborate with Mittelhammer gain a mature operational and theoretical knowledge of statistical and econometric methods well beyond the classroom. His textbooks Econometric Foundations and Mathematical Statistics for Economics and Business are used at leading research universities.

Susmita Bose, associate professor of materials science , is a pioneer in implant materials. Often collaborating with graduate students she works to develop simulated bone with the same physical, mechanical, and biological properties as real bone. This development could prove invaluable, as every year about 800,000 bone-grafting or replacement procedures are performed in the United States. With an aging population, that number is expected to rise.
